Penis Augmentation (PHALLOPLASTY)
More and more people are turning to plastic surgery to improve and rejuvenate their love lives. Innovative new procedures for formerly unmentionable body parts are making it possible. And these new surgeries offer more than just cosmetic change – the psychological aspect of improving self-image is driving patients toward “bedroom” procedures.
Cosmetic surgery for men is becoming particularly popular. Men now seek aesthetic surgery for mostly the same reasons that women do: to improve one's self-image. Just as implants made woman’s breasts a more open topic of conversation than they once were, penis enlargement may be doing the same for men. Most parts of the male anatomy can be reshaped and developed to improve physical appearance through exercise at the gym.
Unfortunately, the size of the penis cannot be increased through any known exercise. Men are not created equal in this department. Although the penis may function perfectly well, many men desire enhancing their masculinity by penis lengthening surgery, penis girth augmentation or both. If you want a larger penis, cosmetic surgery like phalloplasty provides a genuine answer.
Penis enlargement surgery, or phalloplasty, is becoming increasingly common in our society. Still, while many have seen the advertisements for phalloplasty, few know much about the subject.
Phalloplasty is used to increase both length and circumference of the penis. Options for cosmetic penis enhancement include Penis Widening Surgery ( PMMA Bioplasty) and Penis Enlargement (Length) Surger.
- Penis Enlargement (Length) Surgery
Most men don’t know it, but only two thirds of the penis extends beyond the body. Inside the body cavity, there is roughly another 8-10cm of length (keep in mind that the average penis, in America, is roughly 13cm), which is suspended from the pubic bone by two connective tissues called ligaments. The suspensory ligament and fundiform ligament anchor the external tissue to the body. When freed surgically, in every instance the penis will gain, in a flaccid state, roughly 2-3cm (there are 2.54cm per inch), making the appearance of the limp penis much greater.
Gains in erect position vary considerably but can be equal or greater in size. Today, the cicatricial retraction that is common after surgery (in normal healing, a scar is formed, sometimes causing contraction of the tissues), is usually controlled by counterweight ( stretching device) until the healing is complete.
There have been stated concerns about releasing these ligaments, for fear of damaging the proper elevation of the penis once severed. It’s been discovered, after years of surgery that the elevation of the penis is determined by pressure within the spongy tissues, not the effect of the ligaments themselves. This procedure is extremely safe and virtually never creates any problems.
The surgery is performed in an ambulatory facility under intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. After surgery, part of the postoperative treatment includes stretching of the penis to prevent the severed suspensory ligament from healing shorter than it was previously. Urination and ejaculation are typically unaffected. The angle of the erection may be more horizontal after the surgery.Light duties may be resumed in a week but it is best to take at least two weeks off work, especially if it is strenuous. It is recommended that the patient refrain from sexual activities for at least 4 weeks.
- Penis Widening Surgery ( PMMA Bioplasty)
Increasing the width involves injecting a biomaterial called PMMA in the penis body( PMMA is a biomaterial widely used in medicine for over 50 years ).The actual increase in width is determined by the elastic limit of the penile skin, and is usually a 2-4 cm increase in shaft diameter. The scarring is minimal (usually 5mm ) because the only opening needed is for a delivery cannula. There are no contour defects and appearance and feel are normal. A penile stretching device is suggested after the widening procedure to combat scar contraction that might occur.
Before you do this procedure you have to do a fimosis susgery ( postectomy) whick takes out the foreskin that covers the glans (head of penis). Its a common surgery that can be done by any urologist or surgeon of your choice. After at least 30 days from the postectomy you can do the penis widening procedure.
In my practice more than 80% of patients have penile lengthening and penile widening together. Only approximately 5% have penile widening alone and less than 5% have penile lengthening alone.
HOW CAN OUT OF TOWN PATIENTS BE TREATED?
Patients come from all around the globe to perform the Phalloplasty procedure with Dr Valter Nascimento. Out town patients are recommend to stay in Rio de Janeiro for at least 3 days after surgery.
